E-Ink new product: Books.com.tw releases BooksPad e-book reader, supports IPX7 waterproof and stylus

Books.com recently officially launched its first self-branded e-book reader, BooksPad , and made its debut at the Taipei International Book Fair. This new reader is equipped with a 7.8-inch E Ink Kaleido™ 3 color electronic ink screen and is priced very competitively, demonstrating its determination to enter the e-reading market.

BooksPad boasts the use of patented FastGLR fast-swipe technology , which can effectively reduce afterimages and increase page-turning speed, making reading smoother. The screen resolution reaches 1404x1872 (300ppi) in black and white and 702x936 (150ppi) in color , which can ensure the sharpness of text and enhance the detail of color content, making it suitable for reading comics, magazines and graphic books. In addition, the built-in adjustable multi-color reading light can adjust the brightness and color temperature according to the ambient light, providing a more comfortable reading experience.

This reader is also quite powerful in terms of hardware specifications. It has built-in 4GB RAM and 64GB storage space , which can store a large amount of e-books and notes. It supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz/5GHz) and is equipped with Bluetooth 5.2 for easy connection to external devices. BooksPad also has a built-in speaker and IPX7 waterproof function . In addition to reading e-books, it can also support audiobook playback, providing more diverse ways to consume digital content.

In terms of ease of use, BooksPad has four physical page-turning keys on the left and right sides, allowing users to operate more intuitively when reading for long periods of time without having to rely on a touch screen. At the same time, it has built-in up to 50 note templates, 18 colors and 6 pen strokes , and supports stylus writing, making it a reader suitable for handwritten notes. With a Type-C charging port , BooksPad has a built-in 2500mAh battery that can support long-term use. In addition, three textured back covers are available: starry black, cloud white, and limited edition spring cherry pink.

Books.com's strategy for entering the e-book market is quite clear. It hopes to provide a complete e-reading ecosystem through BooksPad and further promote the development of digital reading habits in Taiwan. Currently, BooksPad has opened early bird pre-orders at a price of 6,999 yuan , the official price is 7,299 yuan , and it is expected to start shipping on May 12, 2025 .
