PocketBook recently launched the InkPad Color 2, an e-reader with a 7.8-inch Kaleido Plus color display, a hardware upgrade to the 2021 InkPad Color with more new features.
InkPad Color 2's 7.8-inch Kaleido Plus color e-paper display has 1404×1872 black and white resolution (300 PPI) and 468×624 color resolution (100 PPI), which can display more than 4096 different color combinations. Although both generations use the Kaleido Plus display, officials say the new InkPad Color 2 has an improved color filter array for "better hue and saturation performance."
The InkPad Color 2 is powered by a 1.8 GHz quad-core processor, which should be more responsive than the older 1 GHz dual-core processor. Both models come with 1GB of RAM, but the InkPad Color 2 has 32GB of built-in storage, double the 16GB of the old model. In addition, the new model has added the IPX8 waterproof standard, and the device can withstand immersion in fresh water at a depth of 2 meters for no less than 30 minutes. At the same time, new built-in speakers to play audiobooks, and G-Sensor to provide automatic steering function. However, the new model has canceled the microSD card slot, and the weight has also increased from 225 grams of the previous generation to 267 grams, which may cause inconvenience to users.
The new generation of headlights has added an adjustable warm color temperature function, which helps reduce blue light and allows users to read more comfortably in dim or dark environments. InkPad Color 2 supports access to the Pocketbook store, users can purchase and download a variety of e-book resources, and supports almost all major e-book and audio formats.
Pocketbook InkPad Color 2 will be officially sold in the United States in early May, priced at $319.99.
