TCL announced the launch of its new smartphone TCL 40 Nxtpaper in late August, which introduced innovative Nxtpaper screen technology and finally made its official debut in Europe recently. The series first debuted in tablet form in 2020. Unlike traditional color e-ink screens, TCL 40 Nxtpaper uses an upgraded LCD screen to better simulate the look and feel of paper. The frosted layer of the screen is a highlight, which can effectively reduce ambient light reflection, making reading more comfortable while maintaining color and refresh rate even under strong light or direct sunlight conditions.
This phone is available in both 4G and 5G versions. The 4G version is equipped with MediaTek Helio G88 processor, 6.78-inch FHD+ display, 8GB expandable memory, 256GB storage space, 33W fast charging function and dual speaker system. It is equipped with a three-lens camera system, including a 50-megapixel main camera, a 5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a 32-megapixel front camera. The 5G version is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 6020 processor, a 6.6-inch HD+ display, 6GB of memory, 256GB of storage space, and supports charging speeds of up to 15W. Its camera configuration is similar to the 4G version, but the front camera is 8 million pixels.
The TCL 40 Nxtpaper is priced at €199 for the 4G version and € 249 for the 5G version. TCL said it will release this phone in the United States in 2024.
